Science Home Tutor in Dwarka
One-to-one Science tuition at home across Dwarka for Classes 1 to 12, CBSE and ICSE — Physics, Chemistry and Biology taught by someone who works from your child’s own textbook.
Science is the subject parents most often misread. A student who can recite a definition and still cannot answer the question has not been taught badly — they have been taught to memorise a subject that rewards explaining. The gap shows up as marks lost on questions the student swears they knew, and it widens every year it is left alone.

The stages, and what each demands
Classes 1 to 5
Environmental Studies rather than Science proper. The work here is curiosity and vocabulary — a child learning to describe what they observed, in order, in their own words. Nothing needs to be rushed toward exam technique at this stage.
Classes 6 to 8
Science becomes its own subject with three visible strands. Physics starts asking for numbers, Chemistry starts asking for symbols and equations, Biology starts asking for labelled diagrams. Most students find one of the three unexpectedly hard, and which one it is matters more than the overall mark.
Classes 9 and 10
Board-facing work. Numericals carry method marks, diagrams carry label marks, and definitions have to be precise rather than approximately right. This is where a student who has been coping on memory alone runs out of room.
Classes 11 and 12
Physics, Chemistry and Biology separate completely, and each becomes a full subject with its own demands. Class 11 is the harder adjustment of the two years — the depth increases sharply and the school moves faster than most students expect.
Working from the right book
NCERT has been revising its Science textbooks class by class over recent sessions, so two children in the same class can be carrying different editions depending on when their school switched. A tutor should be teaching from the book your school actually issued this year, alongside the school’s own notes and worksheets — not from a syllabus they remember. If you are unsure which edition your child has, bring the book to the first session.
How sessions work
- Diagnose first, and separately for each strand. “Weak in Science” almost always means weak in one of the three.
- Teach the concept, then the standard diagram or derivation, then let the student attempt a question while the tutor watches.
- Numericals worked step by step, because method marks are awarded for steps a student skips when working mentally.
- Written tests before the school’s, so the first real assessment is never a surprise.
On practicals and lab records: internal assessment marks are routinely given away. Practical files assembled the week before submission read like it, and viva questions come from experiments the student performed but never revisited. Both are worth building into the term rather than repairing at the end of it.
CBSE and ICSE do not want the same answer
Up to Class 10, CBSE sets one combined Science paper and rewards precise, compact answers. ICSE examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate papers and expects the reasoning to be visible on the page. The underlying concepts are largely the same; the answer that earns full marks is not. A tutor should know which board your child sits before the first session, not after the first marked paper.
Questions parents ask
My child scores well in Biology and badly in Physics. Is that normal?
Very. Biology rewards recall and structure; Physics rewards applying a small number of ideas to unfamiliar situations. They are different skills, and a strong overall mark can hide a weak strand for a year or two before Class 9 exposes it.
Do you teach all three subjects in Classes 11 and 12?
Physics, Chemistry and Biology are taught by subject tutors at senior level rather than by one Science tutor. Tell us which subjects you need when you call.
Can Science be taught online?
Theory, numericals and diagram work transfer well from about Class 8 upward using a shared whiteboard. Practical technique is better handled at home or at school.
My child is in Class 8 with no board exam this year. Can tuition wait?
It is the most common reason students struggle in Class 9. Class 8 is where numerical method and diagram discipline are supposed to be built, and Class 9 assumes both are already there.
